Hi team. I want to clarify something. There are currently 2 ways to enter Cost Plans into PPM:
1. Via the Cost Plan related list
2. Via the Financial tab in the Planning Console
In terms of refreshing the ETC and EAC widgets it was my understanding that
a) this would happen automatically if I entered a value into the Financial tab of the Planning Console, but that
b) I would need to click the "Calculate Completed Estimates" related link on the project record if the values were entered into the Cost Plan Related list
Is my understanding wrong? UAT on Utah it appears that you need to click the "Calculate Completed Estimates" related link on the project record in both cases for the ETC/EAC widgets to be refreshed

Your understanding is partially correct. Let me clarify the behavior of the ETC and EAC widgets in ServiceNow PPM when entering Cost Plans in the two methods mentioned.
-
Via the Cost Plan related list: You are correct that you need to click the "Calculate Completed Estimates" related link on the project record for the ETC and EAC widgets to be refreshed.
-
Via the Financial tab in the Planning Console: In this case, when you save the changes after entering the Cost Plan details, the ETC and EAC widgets should automatically refresh. However, in some instances, depending on the specific ServiceNow version, or if there are any customizations or configurations affecting this behavior, you may still need to click the "Calculate Completed Estimates" related link on the project record to refresh the widgets.

Hi Rajesh,
Is there a way to automate the calculations for EAC/ETC dynamically?
What is the reason for why the widget displays accurate and updated EAC/ETC but the field level data on the project form is not?
Thanks in advance for the reply .
