Project Task Percent Complete -- Manual Entry

PennyDMc

Received a request from some project managers to have the ability to update the percent complete for project tasks.  Has anyone set this up, and if so, can you share your approach.

Have concerns about shifting all calculations from Automatic to Manual.

TIA

We've set this up, but OOB it's a manual field.  To make it more automated:
* updating based on underlying WBS (if the project managers handle them in a consistent way which is not where we want to be yet 😅).

* use the pm_project to update the same in sn_align_core_project, so you can visualize progress on the portfolio roadmap

That would create a huge technical debt, so push back on the requirement. What is their reason for wanting this? It will only put more administrative tasks on the tasks. The complete roll up of percentage complete will need extra calculations based on that. 15% of tasks are done, 25% is on 50%, 1 task is on 7,5%, but it is a big one, so it should count for.... Don't do it, because you will regret it as long as you use ServiceNow for PPM.

Thanks Mark, I'm in line with that.
However, on the lowest task in the WBS taxonomy it would make sense, do you agree with that ?
