Selling ServiceNow applications

We are a ServiceNow shop and we are exploring the possibility of expanding outside the typical ITSM market by offering business applications that target other, specific industries.   I am wondering if anyone else has had experience marketing ServiceNow in this manner. For example, we would create a custom business application for industry X in SN, we would then try to sell that application (and by extension, the SN platform) to the industry (with the hope that they will want other apps once they get familiar with SN).   In this scenario we are not targeting IT departments or users.

My concern is that the price may be too high for the potential customer since, from their perspective, they are just buying one application.   I would be interested to hear feedback from others that have done this.

Hi Ric,

We usually don't lead with custom applications. It's not out of the question - there are organizations that use our platform exclusively to automate non-IT processes. The price per fulfiller/resolver is much less for a platform runtime license than the ITSM suite. Be aware ServiceNow does have a minimum annual contract value (ACV) which may make it prohibitive for smaller organizations to get started on just one application.

You should discuss with a local area account manager or director for details. They could put you in touch with our partner managers to get you started if you're interested in selling applications.

Good luck!

Thanks for the clarification, Chuck. I am hoping that the one application

will lead to many once they see how flexible the platform can be.

Hi Ric,

Thanks for your inquiry. I am not sure what shop you refer to sell your app. However currently, ServiceNow Store(store.servicenow.com) is available for our registered partners to publish and sell apps. In order to do so, you will need to register for the Technology Partner Program first that will allow you with access to build and certify apps or integrations on the ServiceNow platform.   The Store also provides end-to-end transaction, including app purchase, invoicing, payment and installation. For more information, please use the following references about Technology Partner Program and ServiceNow Store.
