Hi everyone,
I am trying to understand how Front Load and Even Load allocation strategies work in ServiceNow Resource Management.
From the documentation, I understand the conceptual difference:
- Front Load should allocate the planned effort as early as possible within the allocation period.
- Even Load should distribute the planned effort evenly across the allocation period.
However, in my ServiceNow instance, I am not seeing any noticeable difference between the two. Both allocation types appear to produce the same allocation distribution.
I have a few questions:
- Under what conditions should Front Load and Even Load produce different results?
- How does ServiceNow calculate these allocations in the backend?
- Which Script Include, API, or scheduling engine is responsible for the calculation?
- Does the calculation consider resource schedules, working days, holidays, or daily capacity?
- Are there any system properties or prerequisites that affect how these two allocation types behave?
If anyone has looked into the backend logic or knows where this calculation is implemented, I would really appreciate any insights.
Thank you!
