Using PPM for Separate Groups

At our company, we are looking to use PPM for 3 distinct groups, that have no overlap (1 IT, 2 Business).

Has anyone done this before?

If so how hard was it to do and what types of mechanisms did you have to put in place (ACLs, Groups, Portfolios, etc.)?

Thank you,

Steve

Hi,
Yes, this can be done.
For each business group you can have different portfolios etc. You can use business unit field as the qualifier for different business groups in the organization.

Hi Steve,

Could you provide more details about your requirement?

Do these 3 groups have different business processes/flows OR do they share a common business process and are looking for ways to restrict access to their data?

PS: Please take a look at Data Separation to see if that helps.

It is more about the data in the Projects, but no need for Data Separation since the data does not need to be kept internally confidential. I believe Saurabh's answer gets me what I need.

Hi Steve,

Just wanted to let you know that the platform has release a capability called Security Data Filters which we are now recommending as the main way to keep data separated. We have published a detailed KB article on how this can be done with examples: https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB1772519
