I have created a sample project with 2 tasks, namely System Support and Customer Support.
There are 2 columns that has created confusion on the significance or existence:
1. Resource Assignees
2. Assigned to
1. What is the significance of each of the columns? and,
2. With Resource Assignment, can we do away with Assigned to and just live with Resource Assginees?
Any explanation and impact analysis on any connected modules such Time Sheet/Timecard, Resource Management, etc., is greatly appreciated. Examples are highly encouraged.

Assigned to is the person that is responsible for the task at hand. That could be a project or a task. Looking at your task names, you probably have a Support team lead that is responsible for the delivery of the task?
Resource assignments are the resources required to complete a task/project. So that's everyone needed to get the stuff done.
Maybe you need 3 specialists to do something, but the team lead is responsible for delivery of the task. If you add sub tasks for each resource assignee, you will end up with everything being the same, but the difference is in the work needed to be done and the (administrative) responsibility within the system.
You could use only resource assignees, but if I need 2 hours of time from someone to help me close the task assigned to me, do you really want to add another task, or just ask for that someone to be a resource?
Please mark any helpful or correct solutions as such. That helps others find their solutions.
