Hi all,
I’m new to ServiceNow and currently learning the platform . I ran into an issue while creating a filter and need some guidance.
I created a filter called “SEV1 OPEN INC” under the Filters option while logged in as a System Administrator. However, when Beth (an ITIL user) tried to view the filter, she wasn’t able to see it. I then removed the Sys Admin role from the filter settings and left it blank, then Beth could access it.
My questions are:
- Where do we specify user permissions for filters? For example, how can I ensure that Beth has the right access to view the “SEV1 OPEN INC” filter?
- After removing the Sys Admin permission, I’m no longer able to edit the filter. Is there another way to modify the filter settings once Sys Admin access is removed?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

Hi Raj,
I guess you are talking about saving the filters so that any particular User/Group or all can access it Like:-
You can specify whether you can want to see it or you want to show it everyone or any specific group, in this way you can control the visibility of the filters.
If you are talking about something else it will be better if you will add the appropriate screenshot as well.

Yes you can edit it. First Remove Table-Incident from Filter and move to all filters. Search for your filter and open it and you will be able to Edit it. Check screenshot 1 and 2.

Hi
Thank you for addressing my first question. Regarding the second one, as shown in the first screenshot below, I was able to create and edit these two filters as a sys admin. However, after removing the sys admin role (as seen in the second screenshot), I am no longer able to edit or make any changes to the filters.
Could you please clarify if it's possible to edit these filters after the sys admin permissions have been removed? Is there any option to modify them without the sys admin role?
Thank you.
