Need steps on relating Request RITM to CI record

we do get request from network team to update asset details such as Switches and routers if they have found them to be faulty and been replaced and now wants faulty assets to be placed in non operation status in cmdb
We do that however we have to manually mention RITM number in CI details in Journal for records ,
I want to know if its possible to relate the RITM to CI record ? attach is pic of related list i can see in CI record but it does not show option to relate RITM , only option is to create new but creating new from there has other issues

There is a column on the Requested item table (sc_req_item) called Configuration Item. If that is updated with the related configuration item then you'll be able to see the affected requested item listed in the configuration item's related list.
