Service Portal to OOB state

Is there a direct way to return the Service Portal back to the Out of Box state?  

Previous admins implemented several customizations on our Service Portal that it's created a mess and we need to revert the portal back to its OOB version.  Has anyone been able to blow away all past edits/customizations in order to have a 'fresh start' on the portal?

Or has anyone had luck with HI issuing a new portal container that could be used in place of the old?

I would look into rolling out Employee Center instead. Since Employee Center is replacing Service Portal. This will help you kill two birds with one stone.
