I live in London, England and I've been a Manual QA for 7 years and want change my career path to ServiceNow Business Process Analyst.
Has anyone done this before?
What was your journey like?
What career path did you take with ServiceNow and how much did it cost?
How easy was it for you to get your first job as a BPA?
Thanks in advance

Hi Tolani,
I became engaged with Servicenow by working for a financial institution that used the product. Initially I used as an ITSM service ticket user. Then moved up to being a support engineer on our platform. That opened up the training possibilities.
In 2017 my role switched again. I was fortunate to be asked to help stand up the SAM Pro module, and became the admin of that process. I took as many classes as I could. (Admin fundamentals, SAM fundamentals, as well as several areas of interest type classes.) My company asked me to become change manager, in addition to the Software Asset Management duties I had.
When the person who maintained our CMDB left, I was offered an opportunity to move on to that. Last year, our management team decided to implement CSDM framework. I learned a lot on that project!
Get involved with a company who uses Servicenow. Be open and willing to new opportunities, and live in the docs and training sections. Seven years ago, my company invested a little over $1,400 US to train me in software asset management. We first implemented Servicenow in 2009 and went to a cloud version around 2014. I have not spent any personal money but have held many Servicenow related positions at my firm. Each position has aided the progression of my career.
I hope this helps you. Good luck with your journey!

Hi Beth,
Thank you so much for your advice and tips. I'm going to continue on the SysAdmin route. I'm not currently working so I will be applying for roles in companies that have already implemented ServiceNow.
I don't have any hands-on experience, I hope my QA background can help fill some of those gaps.
Thanks once again!
Kindest regards,
Tolani
