“Ugh, Now Create.” This was the response from one of my customers, while speaking to him about our training plan for his organization. It completely caught me off guard.

“Oh? You didn’t have a good experience with Now Create?” I was quite puzzled by this.

“No, I think it is great! I just wished I had known about it before trying to manage my first implementation. I put together my own plan. Using Now Create would have saved me so much time and hassle.”

I was quite amused by this conversation. It made me realize I should really get to know Now Create so that I could truly understand its value.

For those who don’t know what Now Create is………. well, you are missing out.

Now Create provides step-by-step guidance you need to deliver successful projects with ServiceNow. It’s like they took all the best ideas from thousands of successful implementations and put them all in one easy-to-use source. It reminded me of ServiceNow Training and Certification team’s Adoption Toolkit, but that’s another story.

Now Create provides five project phases applied across all ServiceNow projects:

  • Initiate
  • Plan
  • Execute
  • Delivery
  • Close

Each of these phases provides specific resources that help organize all the capabilities you need for a successful GoLive.

You may be wondering if training is represented in Now Create. It is not uncommon for training to be an afterthought. I can tell you that training is definitely in there, so let’s take a look at an example:

With Now Create, you can look for a specific success pack. In this case, we will choose an implementation of Customer Service Management. We see Now Create’s core hybrid waterfall methodology with its project phases. Under the Initiate and Deliver columns of Organizational Change Management, we see “Train Project Team” and “Enable Training”.

From “Train Project Team,” you can choose “Project Team Training Needs” and/or “Plan & Execute Training Courses”. Both options provide valuable information on the importance of training, including the risk of skipping. A RACI, (responsible, accountable, consulted, informed), is also provided under the “Who” section. Under “Inputs,” assets are provided in a Microsoft Word format that show specific product training guidance and product skill profiles. There you will see training recommendations for not only your technical users, but your process and end users as well.

Under “Enable Training,” you can pull a training delivery plan template and a training evaluation template to get feedback from your team. There’s even a workshop deck to plan, communicate, and execute a change plan.

To get a good introduction to Now Create, take a look at our on-demand course, Getting Started with Now Create, and be sure to visit the Customer Success site as well. You will even get a Now Create badge. There is also an e-book called Achieve Exceptional Business Outcomes with Now Create that I highly recommend.

Now Create definitely helps you find and execute the right training plan as part of your ServiceNow implementation. It ensures exceptional outcomes in a fast and easy-to-understand tool. Who doesn’t want a successful implementation?

Let me know what you think of Now Create and the training guidance it provides.
