Hi All,
Wanted to share my experience for folks trying to get past the CIS-CSM certification.
If I recall correctly, back in 2022, I might have started with the "Implementer Career Journey" path or the "System Administrator path", as we were undergoing an implementation of the ServiceNow CSM and ITSM modules. And at some point along the way I switched to the Implementer - Credential Path for CSM. I come from a CRM, Sales and Service automation background, focused on SAP for a long time, I believed focusing CUSTOMER WORKFLOWS was more practical for me. As in CSM, FSM and SOM.
I have to admit however, between all these journeys and the content, sometimes I do get lost as to where I am 😀. Considering the robust portfolio and the tremendous amount of learning that's available, it is a bit overwhelming sometimes as much as its fun learning.
As most of you are aware by now, that each of these course paths lead to additional paths embedded within.
I want to draw attention to the Implementer CSM
When you chose this path, there are
- prerequisite courses
- mandatory
- apply your knowledge
- take your CIS exams
- Optional recommended courses
While navigating between the different tabs , jumping from instances to instances I might have missed the OPTIONAL RECOMMENDED COURSES and want to highlight that this is an absolute must to get a deeper understanding of the application of data models to the concepts within CSM.
Since I couldn't afford to take the Class Workshop option, I had to rely on finishing the other essentials and happy to share that I wrapped up/cleared my CIS-CSM exam, based on the CSM Essentials course and other mandatory prerequisites content.
However, if you have the bandwidth to pursue I would encourage everyone chasing this path to certainly take this course. It adds a lot more value and puts things into perspective
Apart from practicing on the labs (I tried terminating the instances once all steps were complete, and requested new instances to redo everything again), I also relied on the PDI instance to practice.
I am also keen to hear from folks, that have pursued these or alternate certifications, as to what their experiences are, in finding roles in the ServiceNow ecosystem.
I see a lot more requirements out there for IT workflows than the others. I have been on the lookout for 2+ months now.
Regards,
Ashwin

I cleared CIS-CSM on my first attempt and IT EXAMS LAB, was a HUGE part of that. Their mock tests covered almost every area
