Strategic Portfolio Management (Zurich)

Lab 3,8.1

Hello,

I been working with my instance/lab.  This particular lab is asking to select "Generate Labor Cost Plans" button, but unfortunately I DO NOT see this button.  Assuming that I am studying the most recent edition?  I have looked throughout the community with "Labor Costs" and no help.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Bruce Burnett

Hi Bruce,

This is a common issue in the Zurich labs — the button isn’t removed, it just doesn’t appear unless certain conditions are met.

Why you don’t see “Generate Labor Cost Plans”

That UI Action is highly condition-based, so if anything is missing, it won’t show up at all.

Key things to verify

1. You are in Classic UI (important)

In Zurich, this action is typically:

  •  Not available in Workspace
  •  Available in Platform (classic UI)

Try opening the project using:

  • “Open in Platform” / “View in Classic”

2. Resource Plan must exist

The button only appears when:

  • At least one Resource Plan is created for the project

No resource plan = button won’t show

3. Project state / conditions

Check that your project:

  • Is in an active/approved state
  • Has required financial fields populated (depending on lab)

Labs often assume a specific state without explicitly saying it.

4. Roles

Make sure your user has:

  • it_project_manager
  • or resource_manager

Without proper roles, the UI Action is hidden.

5. Cost / Financial settings enabled

Ensure:

  • Cost Management / Financial Planning features are active
  • Labor costing is enabled in the system

Most likely cause (for labs)

From experience, it’s usually one of these:

  • You’re in Workspace instead of classic UI
  • Resource Plan hasn’t been created yet

Quick fix path

  1. Open project in classic UI
  2. Create a Resource Plan
  3. Refresh the form

The button should appear
