I failed my CSA exam (Vancouver)

Hi folks,

I made a first attempt on passing the CSA, but unsuccessfully. Some of the questions were really easy, some them tricky.

What I remember:

7 questions at least in terms of:

  • UI policies
  • Business rules
  • Which actions are executed on the server side, client side, or browser.
  • What is the system name for groups
  • About the visual representation of CIs & their relationship
  • 1 question in terms of wildcard
  • dependency view, automapping assist
  • few questions about ACLs: scenario based
  • Which of the following are by default enabled portals
  • When user x is logging to ServiceNow, he is able to see only service portal. There were 2 options to choose from.
  • A user is not able to view articles, and what role is needed for someone to contribute in the knowledge base ( can contribute, can create, sn_knowledge_something and yet again sn_knowledge_something)
  • How to assign a task to yourself- 2 options available
  • What is keeping track on unsaved changes in the field within an incident form. ( list editor, or activity formatter & I don`t remember the last 2 options)

This is what I remember.

Score:

Topic Level Scoring:

1 - Platform Overview and Navigation: 75%

2 - Instance Configuration: 57%

3 - Configuring Applications for Collaboration: 58%

4 - Self Service & Automation: 58%

5 - Database Management: 68%

6 - Data Migration and Integration: 88%

I will be happy for any advise to take it, because actually I have experience on the platform, I did all the labs myself, I went through the book twice, but it seems still some content areas are not quite clear. However, I am sure, I will pass it next time.

P.S, What I see as a mistake, is that I changed some of my answers at the last moment, and it might be that this overthinking made me a bad favor. 🙂

I wish you all the very best luck & don`t give up!

Cheers, M.

Hi @Mila Malinova

Thanks for sharing and now its time to reanalysis, where we went wrong. I failed 3 times in CIS SIR exam and i found that I did not read the book and not performed the labs correctly or just did time pass. Here is learning , read the ebook again, go chapter by chapter dont spend whole day on book, do labs. and see observe all small changes / work you are doing.

Hey Mila,

I am sure you got this! I recently passed my CSA after having to take multiple attempts. One thing I found really helpful was doing practice tests. When I missed a question, I would make a flashcard on it and really try to understand why my answer was wrong. It wasn't so much about memorizing the questions, but understanding how the questions were asked and what information was important for the exam. I used the SkillCertPro practice exams. Lots of the questions had documentation to help understand the content. I also read through the ServiceNow docs to get a better more in depth look at each piece of the ServiceNow puzzle.

Practice Tests: https://skillcertpro.com/product/servicenow-csa-admin-exam-questions/

ServiceNow Docs: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/washingtondc-platform-administration/page/administer/general/conc...

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Many thanks, Iris, for encouraging me. 😊 Cross fingers.

When user x is logging to ServiceNow, he is able to see only service portal. There were 2 options to choose from

1. Their user account does not have itil role
2. Their user account does not belong to any groups, which contain the itil role
A user is not able to view articles, and what role is needed for someone to contribute in the knowledge base - can contribute
Assign Task to yourself:

1: Use the check box to select the record, then click the Person icon to assign it.

2: Select the Task number and use the Assign to me UI action available on the form. These methods provide quick ways for users to take ownership of tasks directly from the list view. (Reference: ServiceNow Documentation - Task Assignment and List Actions)
