Hello,
I have been looking to start my journey with the SN platform, however I am struggling to find the best path or career journey to get going. I see that there is options for implementer, System admin, business process analyst, etc.
Which direction do I go if I am looking to start in a BDR/SDR role. If there are certifications with other companies that anyone has noticed please suggest them
Thannk you

Hi @SahvanG
To start in SN , the best and basic journey is Admin. This is must and foremost, bcz in this journey you will understand the platform at whole and which open a path for you to decide further.
Also you did not mention anything about your previous experience as well, I am assuming you are new in IT with no prior experience.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

Hello,
Thank you for the reply,it is much appreciated. I do not have previous IT experience in the workforce however I am currently taking classes in University to help with my knowledge.
By completing the sys admin path, will I recieve a cerification? and generally does a certification like that act as an asset for other employers to see?

Hi @SahvanG , I've worked in the platform for about 14 years and what I found was that every company/customer I've worked with have their own definition of what an administrator, developer or implementor can do. Sometimes the expectation is all 3 even if you applied as an administrator. I would start with the certified sys admin as that's the start of fundamentals you'll need. Then certified application developer and certified implementation specialist for itsm. These are the other 2 that are very common with certification but also part of the fundamentals you need in ServiceNow. Then you can look into other areas that are not so common but are getting popular like SecOps or ITOM. Hope this helps!

Hi @Community Alums
Thanks for the response, the information you provided is very helpful. What type of role are you i at SN? I guess my main goal is to start at the BDR/SDR level and work my way up. However I don't see positions like these available at SN. Contrarily, those positions are attainable at Salesforce. For this reason do you think it would be better suited to go that route. Eventually, I would love to be apart of SN
