Hi members, I'm a recent servicenow graduate, I'd like to ask if there are things to look out for to get entry level service now role (developer/Administration) in the UK, should I focus on building applications and practicing or reading for CSA? I have less than a year experience as a front-end developer.

Thanks 🙂

In my experience, the best companies don't look at paper qualifications like certs as their main focus. What they want to see is your enthusiasm and curiosity to learn and grown on the platform. You can teach people to pass certs, but you can't teach attitude (and certs aren't worth much without experience!)

I fully agree with the other posters in not recommending that you delve into scoped application development this early on. Although they're pushed on SN learning materials and you can see them as useful for broader knowledge, they're rarely used by companies.

My advice would be to remember that they're looking at you as a person (how do you learn? what drives you? etc) and to take the learning courses you're interested in as your enthusiasm will shine through in interviews. Don't be afraid to be irritated by aspects of ServiceNow as you learn, too - it's often quite the bonding point amongst novices and experienced developers alike, and makes for great interview discussion! Although you can think about the CSA, a good company will pay for it when you join, so I wouldn't see it as a must in advance if you're looking at employers which really support their employees in training and development.
