Are you sure about this? Do we need to take a backup before the upgrade?

Also, should we consider backing up items like uncommitted update sets, integration and MID Server configurations/logs, system properties, and Automated Test Framework (ATF) test suites to support recovery and validation if needed?

From my understanding, these are typically more relevant for a clone scenario rather than an upgrade, but please confirm.

If the upgrade is limited to a patch release, additional backups are generally not required. However, family version upgrades are typically performed in conjunction with a clone activity, which provides a recovery point.

My recommendation was made with major (family) upgrades in mind. For these upgrades, it is still considered a best practice to retain key configuration backups—such as uncommitted update sets, integration and MID Server configurations, system properties, and ATF test suites—to support validation and recovery if needed.
