CIS-ITSM Exam question

What is normally done when a Root Cause and a Workaround are identified for a problem to document the
quickest known resolution?
A. Publish Workaround
B. Document a Known error
C. Document Five Whys
D. Complete Investigation

I would select both A and B if this were a multiple-choice question. Since it's a single-choice question, which one should I choose, A or B?

Hi @ChunjiJ,

If a root cause is found with permanent fix, document the known error.

If a root cause is found with a workaround fix, publish the workaround. Remember that workaround is not a permanent solution, so a permanent solution needs to be found to close the problem.

I would go with Documenting a Known error (B) once the Root Cause of the problem is identified so that it can be referenced later, if needed.

Workarounds are published to resolve the open incidents which caused disruption of the service. Meanwhile a problem record is created for such issues to identify the underlying root cause and provide a fix to avoid reoccurring of the same type of incidents.
