CSDM 5.0 Adoption for Incident, Problem, and Change Management – Recommended Improvements?

Hello Experts,

Our organization has recently adopted CSDM 5.0, and we are planning to leverage it within our Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes to improve service visibility, ownership, impact analysis, reporting, and operational efficiency.

As part of this initiative, I am evaluating potential enhancements such as:

  • Introducing Service Offering and Application Service as primary service context fields
  • Auto-populating Business Application, Service Owner, and Support Group
  • Improving incident assignment using service relationships
  • Implementing service-based risk assessment for Change Management
  • Enhancing Problem Management with Business Capability and service-centric root cause analysis
  • Leveraging service dependency maps for impact analysis
  • Creating service-based dashboards and reporting

I would like to understand from organizations that have already implemented CSDM 5.0:

  1. What Incident Management enhancements provided the most business value?
  2. Which fields do you recommend making mandatory on Incident, Problem, and Change forms?
  3. How are you utilizing Service Offerings, Business Applications, and Business Capabilities within operational processes?
  4. Have you implemented service-based assignment routing, risk scoring, or approval workflows?
  5. What quick wins would you recommend for organizations starting their CSDM journey?
  6. Are there any lessons learned or common pitfalls to avoid during implementation?

I would appreciate any recommendations, examples, or best practices from your experience.

Thank you in advance for your guidance.
