I am brand new to ServiceNow and working through the course, Welcome to ServiceNow. One of the exercises is to update Incident INC0000055 category to Software. However, when I try to do that, I get, "Security prevents writing to this field."
Therefore, when I try to Validate the task, it fails because I haven't done this.
I have looked at responses to similar questions and they talk about ACL. But, like I said, I'm brand new and have no idea what ACL is. Besides, I would think that ServiceNow Learning would have the exercise set up so that I could actually complete it?
Thanks for your help!
Louise

Hi @louiserp
Check in the top-right corner that you're logged in as the System Administrator, and that you're not impersonating another user:
If you're impersonating a user, they may not have the access required to update the incident, but the Admin does.

Simon,
Thank you for replying so quickly! I actually did think of that. The exercise told me to impersonate, so I did try ending the impersonation. Then, I went to the list of Incidents, and I removed all filters, but there was only one incident in the list, and it was not the INC0000055 that the exercise was looking for me to change. Like I said, I would think that Now Learning would set up the exercise so that I'd actually be able to complete it?
Any other ideas? Is there any way to get Now Learning involved? They seem like they're not to keen on folks submitting incidents.

Actually, I just tried again and while not impersonating, the incident I needed showed up!
Thank you Simon for your efforts 😃
