Transitioning from Frontend Developer to ServiceNow Developer – Seeking Guidance

Hello ServiceNow Community,

I am currently working as a Frontend Developer with over 4.5 years of experience in building responsive and user-friendly applications using modern web technologies.

Recently, I decided to transition into the ServiceNow ecosystem, as I found strong alignment between my frontend background and ServiceNow development.

To support this transition:

  • I completed structured training in ServiceNow Development
  • I achieved CSA (Certified System Administrator)
  • I achieved CAD (Certified Application Developer)
  • I have been building practice applications and hands-on implementations in my personal instance

However, I do not yet have official industrial experience as a ServiceNow Developer.

I am currently planning to switch roles and would appreciate guidance from experienced members on:

  1. How to position myself on LinkedIn and Naukri?
  2. Should I apply as a 1-year ServiceNow Developer or Fresher?
  3. How can I justify my transition during interviews?
  4. What type of roles would best fit my profile (Portal Developer / Junior SN Developer / UI Developer)?

Any guidance, suggestions, or real-world advice would be extremely helpful.

Thank you in advance 🙏

Hello @arpitsingnn,

I will suggest start apply for 1-2 year experience roles, framing your 4.5 years of IT experience as relevant for enterprise, coding, rather than as a fresher.

1. First thing, which modules have you learned, and on which modules are you planning to give the interview?
2. start learning with ITSM, Integration and HRSD courses in nowlearning and practice labs session and practice lab gudes in your PDI.
4. Start with startup companies 3-4 so that you will have an idea what questions they are asking, and you will have strong confidence.

If it is helpful, please mark it as helpful and accept the correct solution by referring to this solution in the future it will be helpful to them.

Thanks & Regards,
Abbas Shaik
