URGENT :Calculating Duration of an SCTASK & RITM.

I  want to calculate "duration" for task & RITM"
For incident, we can calculate "duration", but I can't calculate it for task.
If the item is Open:
Display the time elapsed from the request submission date to the current date.
If the item is Closed:
Display the time between the opened date and the closed date.

Thanks for the reply . i will try with that BR.
But that BR won't  work for in progress  I want to calculate the how long the request opened  this one also i want i.e in-progress. Need help on this .
i can see only  the incident table has duration only when state is closed .

you can have 2 fields for this and then populate them based on state change

 Thanks for the quick response.
i can see few incident has captured duration for in progress, but i am unable to find BR for that .on which condition was applied. Few has duration few not . if you give me information about this it will be help full in my work.
