Using Record Producers within Order Guides

Hi - wondered if I could get some advise please regarding the use of record producers within an order guide. 

I am aware that we have the global property that prevents this being used as standard.  Can someone please help me as we have been requested to do this, but I feel it is going against our ServiceNow guidance.

I'm unsure of the longer term impact if this was to go ahead.  Can anyone please provide me with some experience/advice? 

We are currently on Yokohama, upgrading in May to Zurich.  We have also existing order guides in use as they are intended, with custom tables so I'm unsure of the potential impacts on these also from the setting change if it was to happen.

As per KB :Submitting Record Producer via Order Guide 

When Record Producers are submitted via an Order Guide, Records will be created directly in the target table.

There won't be any confirmation as order guide with catalog items (ex: Order status page with Request & related RITMs)
