Using the freeze/ backout schedule

Hi All,
We now have a regular maintenance schedule in place that tells ServiceNow when maintenance can be done but also we have a freeze / backout schedule in place.
The normal maintenance schedule works just fine but we do not see any result from the Freeze/ Backout schedule.
So when we plan something that should be fine in the regular maintenance schedule but is not okay accord the freeze/ backout schedule we expect to see this when we do a conflict check.
At this moment a message is shown reporting that "Not In Maintenance Window" but he related schedule is the regular maintenance schedule and not the freeze/ backout schedule eventhough it is accoring that schedule.
This is confusing.
is there a relation betwee these two and the regular event is always shown as underwater it is a part of the regular schedule? Or perhaps i miss something and is indeed still the regular schedule and the freeze schedule should be added to the regular schedule (fe under child schedules?)
