Engagement messenger and third party cookies

Hello, We are currently in the process of implementing ServiceNow's Virtual Agent Chat Web App on an external website, but we have noticed that it requires the use of third party cookies. As browser support for third party cookies is being dropped, we are considering alternatives. Is ServiceNow's Engagement Messenger chat client able to function without the use of third party cookies?

Hi @lunkki ,

Yes, ServiceNow's Engagement Messenger chat client is able to function without the use of third party cookies.

Engagement Messenger does not rely on third-party cookies.

If you are looking for an alternative to the Virtual Agent Chat Web App, you may want to consider using Engagement Messenger instead. It provides similar chat functionality and can be embedded directly on your external website without the need for third-party cookies.

You just need to configure Cross - Domain rules, HTTP response header for content security rules and system properties for iFrame settings, please find below links for documentation.

  1. Create an identity provider (IdP) for Engagement Messenger.
  2. Configure a CORS rule for Engagement Messenger.
  3. Create HTTP response headers for Engagement Messenger.
  4. Configuring system properties for Engagement Messenger.
