I’m working on configuring ServiceNow Virtual Agent to search content stored in Microsoft SharePoint and return relevant results within the VA chat.
❓ Use Case:
When users type something like “leave policy” or “remote work guideline” in the Virtual Agent, I want it to:
Search documents / files in SharePoint (e.g., .docx, .pdf),
Return relevant results or links to those SharePoint files in the VA response.
🔍 What I need help with:
How do I configure SharePoint as an AI Search / External Content source for Virtual Agent so that VA can include it in search results?
Which tables / connectors need to be configured?
Do I need External Content Connector, SharePoint Search Connector, or something else?
How do I assign it to the Virtual Agent default search profile / experience?
Are there best practices for permissions, indexing, and filtering (so that SharePoint results are relevant and secure)?
I’m not sure how to index SharePoint content so that Virtual Agent (AI Search) can actually search it like Knowledge Base content.
