Reserved desks are colored in Grey in Now Mobile but In ESC portal they are coming as Red color

Hi Everyone,

I have a question reg reserved desks display in Map in Now Mobile, basically the reserved desks are appearing as Grey whereas in employee center it is Red so would like to know if this is by design in Service Now or we can make some changes to be in line with ESC in Now Mobile map view as well?

I have tried changing the property sn_wsd_space_map.legend_booked_color but it is reflecting only in ESC portal map not in Now Mobile map. 

It would be great if someone faced this already and good to know how to resolve this. Thanks.

This is not a misconfiguration on your end, it is a platform limitation with how the two experiences render the map today.

The sn_wsd_space_map.legend_booked_color property, along with the sibling available and selected color properties, lives under Space Mapping > Map Properties, and per ServiceNow's own documentation it is meant to customize how your map renders in the Workplace Service Portal, in other words Employee Center. That is exactly why your change is reflected there and nowhere else.

Now Mobile's floor map, delivered through the Workplace Service Delivery for Mobile app's Location Directory Experience, is a separate rendering component with its own space availability icon coloring for occupancy and reservation status. It does not read from the same Space Mapping properties table that drives the portal widget, so as things stand there is no documented mobile equivalent of legend_booked_color you can set to turn grey into red. You are not the only one who has hit this exact portal versus mobile color mismatch, see this thread for context: Green/Red fill for Reservations.

 

A couple of things to check before you file this away as purely "by design":

  • Confirm you are on the latest versions of the Workplace Service Delivery for Mobile, Indoor Mapping, and Workplace Indoor Mapping store apps. A separate map coloring defect in this same area was resolved purely by updating those plugins to their newest versions, documented here: Colors for available and booked Spaces are not correctly displayed in the Map view.
  • Check All > Workplace Service Delivery for Mobile > Properties on your instance for any display or legend related properties. These store apps ship frequently, so mobile legend customization could exist in a release newer than what you are currently running. The setup steps for the mobile map view are documented here: Enable map view to create reservations.
  • If updating plugins and checking those properties does not move the needle, treat it as a genuine product gap rather than something you misconfigured. Log it with ServiceNow support and reference that you already tried sn_wsd_space_map.legend_booked_color with no effect on Now Mobile, or submit it as a product idea asking for legend color parity between Now Mobile and Employee Center.
