Now Assist for App Engine is a powerful application designed to empower developers with the tools needed to supercharge custom applications with AI capabilities. Using Now Assist for App Engine, you can enhance your custom applications with several AI capabilities: skills, AI agents, and agentic workflows. Starting with version 28.2.4 of Now Assist for App Engine, you can also use the custom app record summarization skill, which enables you to summarize records within custom apps and tables. Now Assist for App Engine workflow

The following list outlines the developer workflow for creating and embedding a custom skill within an application with Now Assist for App Engine:

  1. Identify a task to automate as a skill within an existing or new custom application.
  2. Engineer a skill using Now Assist Skill Kit.
  3. Choose a large language model (LLM), define inputs, and compose prompt text for the skill.
  4. Add tools to the skill, such as pulling in data or automating a task within a workflow or subflow.
  5. Test and validate the skill using Now Assist Data Kit to optimize the correctness of the skill.
  6. Activate and embed the skill within a custom application using an AI agent, UI action, flow action, or the Now Assist panel.

The process for building and embedding an AI agent or an agentic workflow within a custom application is similar. Developers use AI Agent Studio to create, define, and add tools to the AI agent. They can then deploy the AI agent for use in the Now Assist panel or within an agentic workflow.
