  • Learn about the ServiceNow Studio user interface and how to customize it to your specifications.

    ServiceNow Studio is an application that enables you to build, manage, and deploy applications all in one interface. You must be an admin or a delegated developer with access to an application to access ServiceNow Studio.

    ServiceNow Studio home page

    From the home page, you can access all of the tools and services in ServiceNow Studio.

    • The Navigator panel enables you to see a quick view of all your apps, files, bookmarks, recents, and tools. You can filter or sort the lists, and you can open any list in the platform view by selecting Open list.

      Create Option to create a new app or file.

      Bookmarks Access point for all your favorite files and apps.
      Recent Access point for all your most recently accessed files.
    • The toolbar provides another access point for the home page, Tools page, and Deployment.

      Page Description
      Home Main landing page for ServiceNow Studio. Access the Navigator panel, recently opened files and apps, and other tools and resources.
      Tools Access point for documentation related to the tools and builders integrated into ServiceNow Studio. For more information, see Integrated development tools for ServiceNow Studio.
      Deployment Landing page for viewing, managing, and deploying apps using update sets and accessing applications for deployment through pipelines or the Application Repository. If you create a new update set, you can see it on the Deployment page. Applications can also be deployed directly from the App details page for each app.
    • The user preferences menu provides access to ServiceNow Studio preferences, where you can select light or dark theme and choose whether you want to use Build Agent as your default AI-assisted app generation tool.

      The user preferences menu enables you to access ServiceNow Studio settings.

      Personalize your interface by choosing light or dark theme. Build Agent is active by default, but you can turn it off to continue using Now Assist for app generation.

    • The Create button enables you to quickly create apps and app files or to import a new app from source control.

      In the Create menu, you can create a new app or file or import a new app from source control.

    • The Resources section at the bottom of the home page has links to the ServiceNow Community site, the App Gallery, and the Script Debugger tool. In addition, you can access the product documentation for ServiceNow Studio and Creator Studio applications.

      The Resources section provides several links to tools, products, and documentation.

    See scope and update set

    If you're in an app or file, you can see the scope of the file in the status bar. You can also see the update set associated with the application in the status bar. If you need to change the update set or create a new one, open the default update set and change your selection right within the app. You can also see a list of the updates associated with the current update set by selecting View update set.

    Each app shows its scope and update set at the bottom of the canvas. If you want to change the update set, select a new one or create new.
