Variable and catalogue item issues

Hello, I need help. I was tasked to make a catalogue item within my catalogue and that catalogue item needed to have two variables the location of the vending machine and the content type of the vending machine. We were supposed to use our table that we created to refrence the content of the machine which should be either food or drinks. At first it worked fine but after a few minutes even if I changed the choices in my original table it wouldn't update the variable content, so I deleted my table and tried with a new one, but know it doesn't say anything and is just an empty select box that I can't edit. How do I solve this?
