Additional filters in agile board

Hello experts!!

We are looking to enhance the filtering capabilities on our OOB Agile Board, specifically on the Sprint Tracking tab (which uses a Visual Task Board/VTB).

Our Goal: Add Interactive Filter Chips

We want to introduce additional filter controls that function exactly like the Group Member chips/pills that appear above the board. When a user clicks one of these new custom controls, it should instantly filter and/or highlight the relevant stories/tasks on the board.

We are specifically looking to add this visual, one-click filtering for fields such as:

  • Epic (to quickly show all stories belonging to a selected Epic)

  • Priority (e.g., a dedicated chip for "Critical")

  • Other key record fields.

Current Situation: We know how to use the standard filter icon (funnel) to apply conditions, but we need this dedicated, persistent, one-click filter element similar to the member list for better team usability.

Question for the Community:

What is the recommended best practice for achieving this customization and adding these interactive filter chips to the Agile Development 2.0 Sprint Tracking board?

  1. Is this functionality managed through a specific Board Configuration, Metric, or System Property that we can extend?

  2. Does this require custom development (e.g., modifying a specific UI Page/Macro or Widget) to replicate the member filtering logic for other fields?

We want to ensure we follow best practices and minimize risks during future upgrades. Any guidance, including which specific ServiceNow artifact to investigate, would be greatly appreciated!
