Hi All,
I’m seeking guidance on the steps required to configure encrypted fields for sensitive data.
Method 1:
I used this method may be 3-4 years ago. I configured some fields as "encrypted text" using the Encryption Context module. However, I’ve noticed that this module is no longer available.
Method 2:
Based on my initial research, it appears that fields can now be encrypted without creating an "encrypted text" field type by following these steps:
- Install the Column Level Encryption Enterprise plugin (a paid plugin).
- Create a Field Encryption Module record and generate a key.
- Associate the newly created module with a specific role using the 'Module Access Policy' module.
- Create an Encrypted Field Configuration record to link the records from steps 2 and 3.
Could someone clarify which method should be used? Has ServiceNow deprecated Method 1 (since I can no longer find the Encryption Context module or the Encryption Support plugin)?
Thank you,
Ganesh

Hello @Ganeshm1
You're absolutely right to notice the shift ServiceNow has deprecated the older "Encryption Context" and "Encryption Support" plugin-based approach in favor of the more robust and enterprise-ready Column Level Encryption (CLE) and Column Level Encryption Enterprise (CLEE) models.

Note that in Yokohama version these products are renamed to Field Encryption (Standard) and
Field Encryption Enterprise. The latter has also some major updates to the functionality part.
