License cost query for custom table

I have a requirement, where I have a custom table that acts as a form and the record has to be approved. The license record to create and update records in that table is high.

 

Plan for cost optimization: What if I create a Service catalog form that users can fill? Once the catalog request is approved, the custom table record can be updated. 

 

What impact will the above plan have on the cost? Kindly suggest the best ways for cost optimization of the given requirement.

Hi Nihsri, 

Hope you are well. This a great question and wanted to provide just two pointers that I believe might assist you in your solution. I created a small clip where I discuss these points and some assumptions. Hope it helps but I have also summarised it below.

Optimised Best Solution: 

  • Create a Service catalog form that users can fill. Once the catalog request is approved, the custom table record can be updated.  
  • Additionally you can allow users to read from the custom table if you wanted to allow them to update and this should not have a license implication (always check with your serviceNow account manager to be on the safe side) 
  • Automation of creation/update vs manual task as discussed in the video , could help provide that second level of verification/ validation. Totally comes down that to requirement and what fit's it best.
