Stream connect connection to customer network

In the documentation, the diagram for stream connect is showing a one-way arrow from Hermes queue to the customer network. Does this imply that the customer network always initiates the communication? If not, what protocols does Hermes use to communicate with the customer network? Also, what IP addresses are used? Is it the same as for the instance itself? We have strict restrictions on accessing the customer network, and we're looking for ways to address this.

Yes - the connection is initiated on the customer network - using the instance URL. You can see more details and port information in the docs here.

Thanks Anders, there is the note:
"Verify that all producer and consumer ports are accessible through your company firewall."
Open the port from instance or the hermes to company firewall? or is it the same ip? the company dosent want to open the port because of the security restrections. Can we use the VPN here? any good idea?
