Vulnerability management and integrating with Tenable without using the VM module

Just curious if anyone has experience with integrating directly with tenable and building an API custom integration to send CMDB information to tenable, have tenable do some of the normalization of the vulnerabilities and match them to CI's - then just automate ticket creation.  Not sure we have the funding for the full VM module and the team is asking our team to customize a solution
