There have been multiple posts/Questions about PDI going offline.Unfortunatly there is no resolution for that as of now. Its a Known issue these days. Instance help is no longer monitored by servicenow anymore.

None of the solutions are working now. You can try to restore which is explained in the link below but go for that when you are ready to take risk. you might not find any data to restore.

BACKUP AND RESTORE YOUR PERSONAL DEVELOPER INSTANCE

And in the future you should take backup Yourself.

Official website is still pointing to Instance help Forum on ServiceNow Community which as I mentioned not monitored by servicenow anymore.

So the best you can do is to release the instance and request for new one if you dont have important data. you will have a new instant in less than 5 min.

But before you do that wait for sometime . From past few days lot of  PDIs are coming back online, there is no time frame mine came online after 4 hours wait a little, it may restore soon.

Edit : New posts suggesting that there is even no PDI available to request. So I think you will have to wait. This seem to be a much bigger issue. Do not go for release and restore for now.

Hello , but what if you don't want to lose what you have in your instance?

Yousaf

Still trying to figure out how can we restore the instance instead of releasing but finding no Instance Support no help.
This is for people who can lose what they have in their instance. if they have no problem waiting they can wait but if they cant just release and request for a new one.

Yousaf

Hi yomik,

Thats why I wrote go for restoring option only when you are ready to take risk. you might not find any data to restore. I cannot official statement why is this happening.

I hope servicenow can somehow send announcment to every PDI user or pin somewhere like some other suggested.

But for now it is what it is Unfortunatly. And we have to take backup of Important data ourself not relying on servicenow.

Yousaf

There seem to be no PDIs available for now

I would suggest try enrolling in any nowLearning free course and see if you can request Instance there use that for now as a workaround

finally official article came today: . INCIDENT: PDI PROVISIONING AND OFFLINE PDIS

Hello,

My PDI is not waking up from hibernation.

When I look at my profile, I have an instance and I get the start building icon.

02 Waking Instance.png01 Profile with instance.png

Then I get the Start Building icon, but when I click it. I am taken to a page that says my PDI is hibernating.
03 Start Building.png
Back on the developer page, when I go to my profile, it tells me to request an instance.

I'm not able to request an instance.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Cody,
Not sure why its happening. You can either wait because sometime it works after logging out and logging back in. Or you can release and request for a new one if thats possible in your situation. Still cannot say for sure it will work.

Great!! Always take backup of your data if you are doing something important in your PDI.

Hi Siddarth,
No one can say for sure if and when its going to be back online. Could be a scheduled maintanaince or PDI issue.
You can wait for sometime if you have important data. If you do not have important data you can release and request a new one.

I make sure I keep my Dev instance active every 10 days, but I am still receiving a warning email from service now regarding-will be reclaimed based on inactivity. Is there any specific reason ?

Yousaf
Giga Sage

With PDI's now a days there is no specific reason. I would say just keep backup of your important data.

My instance has been down since Friday 4/21 with the message of “unscheduled maintenance” and I’ve been working on my Capstone project. I’ve done all the troubleshooting and my instructor advised to release it and request a new one. I see a few people are experiencing the maintenance issue

Hi, when I try to open my PDI to work on something Iam getting the message as "Developer Instance is undergoing unscheduled maintenance. Get Notified when your PDI is available." It's saying that my PDI is offline. It's been more than 2 weeks, when will I be able to get back my PDI?

Yousaf
Giga Sage

@AshrithaD
This article is 2 years old. My PDI was showing the same message from a week. I released and requested new Instance.

Yousaf is right, PDIs are so not supported by ServiceNow.

when
(not if) your PDI becomes unreachable (mostly without warning and irrespective of how often you use it) just release it and request a new one.

Keep any data that you value elsewhere (not SN).
You can use Update Sets (don't forget to regularly close and export them) or import files to fill tables.

In the last six months I have had three PDIs become inaccessible, despite using them daily, and have become immune to the pain of losing work. For some tasks
that's not too bad, such as using a PDI as reference on OOTB configuration. But developing an app in it, rather you than me....

Blobbo, that is very useful information. Thank youuu!

Hello,

I am unable to use my PDI Release: Washington DC, as it has been showing offline for the past hour. Should I release this instance and switch to another release location?

It's up to you, but I have known PDIs be unavailable for up to 5 days then become available again. The last time it happened, SN sent an email apology afterwards.

The prompt to check again in a few minutes isn't to be taken too literally, with PDIs it can take hours or days.

In my experience the paid products have rock solid availability and instances for testing/dev are not wildly expensive for a company.

PDIs are a lottery, but ,for free, they are darn useful for working out how things fit together.

Hello team,

Hope you're well. Can you please take a look on my dev PDI instance https://dev251720.service-now.com/ which had been offline about 6/7days. So kindly please take a look on it and also help to wake up it.

Hello ServiceNow Developer Community Team,

Any chance my PDI [dev270158] could be brought back to live? It says "Developer Instance is undergoing unscheduled maintenance. Get Notified when your PDI is available." for 2 weeks now.

Thank you!!!
