Finding a new path in a new country
Daniel Olufemi Falayi moved from Nigeria to Canada nine years ago. He was excited by the opportunity to build a new life in his adopted country, but there was a problem. To build a rewarding career, he needed local qualifications, which meant going back to school. For Daniel, this felt like a step back. Undeterred, he trained himself as a business analyst and managed to break into the workforce, working at several companies as an analyst and project manager. However, he still felt he hadn’t found his calling. All of that changed when Daniel became the lead business analyst for a client that was implementing ServiceNow. He saw how ServiceNow could help him to really solve customer problems, and decided this was his path to personal fulfillment and professional success. Now, Daniel is a project delivery lead and implementation architect at a ServiceNow partner, working with leading organizations across North America to transform their business processes. He’s also a passionate member of the ServiceNow Community, including leading his local ServiceNow User Group (SNUG) and speaking at ServiceNow Knowledge.

A platform that changed everything
Daniel was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and lived there until he emigrated to Canada nine years ago. As an immigrant, he wanted to build an exciting and rewarding career in his new country. Daniel says his experience as an immigrant was challenging, but he worked hard to train himself as a business analyst. He then spent time as a business analyst and project manager at several companies. Then Daniel had what he describes as a life-changing moment—being the lead business analyst for a client implementing ServiceNow ITSM and CSM. He says he was amazed at how the ServiceNow platform solved long-term organizational challenges and felt that ServiceNow really understood the pain points. Daniel loved every minute of the implementation and decided he wanted to know more.
Turning passion into deep expertise
Daniel’s first step was to become a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) in 2018. He enthusiastically explains that the CSA gave him a firm baseline understanding of ServiceNow and encouraged him to become a Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) for Customer Service Management and IT Service Management. Since then, he’s become a CIS for more than half a dozen other ServiceNow solution areas, including HR Service Delivery and Governance, Risk, and Compliance. He’s also broadened his knowledge and experience beyond implementation, becoming a Certified Technical Architect (CTA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD).
Career growth with purpose
According to Daniel, ServiceNow has had a tremendous impact on his career. It’s given him the opportunity to work with some of the best organizations and clients in the world, and he can see and measure the impact and value he’s providing, which gives him a deep sense of fulfillment. His broad skills are in high demand across multiple roles, opening up even more career opportunities. And he wants to go even further, reaching the pinnacle of ServiceNow expertise by becoming a Certified Master Architect (CMA).
Giving back to the next generation
In addition to leading his local SNUG and speaking at Knowledge, Daniel’s also giving back to people who would otherwise find it hard to get into IT. He’s started several mentorship groups to help visible minorities and new immigrants transition into ServiceNow careers, generously sharing his experience and insights. For Daniel, life has come full circle—he was a struggling immigrant, and now he’s opening doors for other people like himself. That gives him intense feeling of satisfaction. I
