We are pleased to announce the following innovations for the CMDB and Service Graph in the November and December 2022 store releases.

CMDB 360 View

Using multiple data sources to populate your CMDB can provide the most accurate and robust information on your organization’s technology.  Trusted data feeds data-driven insights, informs planning and decision-making, and enables automated workflow.

On upgrading to CMDB Workspace 3.1, customers can access the CMDB 360 view, a descriptive and prescriptive dashboard for all CMDB records that are fed from multiple data sources.

Let’s start from the top of the new view.

Time sequence graphs in the CMDB 360 view track records that have gone silent in one or more sources over time, indicating a potential operations outage, unauthorized change, or data issue.

Use this to highlight improvements, track issues over time, and to drill into details of the CI records needing to be addressed.

Moving just to the right on the new view, use the Data mismatch time sequence on the CMDB 360 view to holistically track potential data mismatches between sources. These mismatches can be easily and systematically resolved using the Identity and Reconciliation settings on the CI Class Manager.  The IRE can then automate the management of which data points you trust to populate your CI attributes.

At the bottom of the CMDB 360 view, you can see the broad spectrum of your sources broken down as a line graph to understand the multiple sources feeding your CMDB.

For a more focused view, coverage cards allow you to visually represent overlapping data by the number and identity of sources containing a record, whether those sources are ServiceNow Discovery, third-party data from Service Graph Connectors, or other integrations.

Other CMDB Workspace 3.0 features

Improved intelligent search

Intelligent search got even smarter between versions 2 and 3.  It has a smarter, more refined appearance and a smarter search engine to bring back better results from natural language queries.  It can now handle more synonyms as search across more CI types.

Additional menus and sections

The CMDB Workspace 3.0 is a dedicated location on the platform where CMDB stakeholders and administrators can access all the tools and information they need to keep their CMDB clean and running strong.

The CMDB Workspace 3.1 builds in additional menu items to visualize, govern, and manage the CMDB.  The Governance menu allows a one-stop view of open and overdue attestation tasks as well as a view by your assignment groups.

In a new Important Actions section, users will see a personalized view of items requiring their action based on assigned roles and the tasks assigned to their group.

And in the management page allows administrators a powerful overview of Health trends, recent activity, and CMDB  records excluded or rejected by data policy.

Service Graph Connector for the Azure Cloud (December 2022)

Coming in the December store release, get on the rocket ship to cloud value with a new Service Graph Connector (SGC) supported by ServiceNow, this one for the Azure cloud.  The plug-and-play Azure SGC supports all the same governance, optimization, AIOps, and software asset management use cases that the AWS Service Graph Connector does.  Combine CMDB 360 with cloud discovery, tag-based mapping, and the cloud operations workspace for a robust and high-fidelity view of your multi-cloud operations.
