Add new status to cmdb_ci table

Hi All,

I am looking forward to adding a new option 'in transit' in my cmdb_ci>status dropdown. 

The present options available are shown in the screenshot.

Please suggest, if it is ok to simply add a new choice option in the dropdown, or if there is some other way.

Hi @Pavneet22 ,

Yes, you can add a new option to the field by navigating to its dictionary configuration, make sure that you're not changing any OOB choice - rather add a new one.

I hope it won't create any problems with the existing relationships between assets, hardware, and other peripherals in CMDB. Please confirm this.

As long as you are not making any change to the OOB choices and field configuration, it won't be an issue. You can add the new choice to the install_status field, it'll reflect in all the child tables as well.

While it is feasible to add this as mentioned, it is recommended to first challenge the requirement to understand the business justification about why it is needed at the cmdb_ci level. The hardware status field which is available on cmdb_ci_hardware and its child classes have 'In transit' available OOB.
