CMDB access for cmdb_read

Andreas Cierpka

We are having a debate internally as we cannot figure out the way how to do. We would like to grant every employee access to the CDMB via cmdb_read permission.
How to set the rights is clear but not what the user must do to be able to access the CDMB and i.e. search for an asset by name.

It's more of the what does the user must do question.

Hello Andreas,

Once user has the 'cmdb_read" role, they can login to the instance and go to left navigation and type "configuration" as per below screenshot of backend (Backoffice). Here they can see the list of CMDB CI classes as modules and then can access those modules and see all CI's present under each class.

They can also do the global search if they are aware how to search the CI based on the CI name, ID etc.

Hope it helps!!

I tend to suggest to non-CMDB people to utilize the Enterprise CMDB Homepage.  As Admin, you could make a copy of this to a dashboard too.
