Discovery Creating Hardware Models

Hello Community,

We recently implemented ServiceNow Discovery and have a few questions about how Discovery maps Hardware Model data. We noticed that our Discovery user is creating Hardware Models, but we're not sure if the data is landing in the correct fields. For example, the Model Number field is not populated for any of the created Hardware Models, and the Name field is populated with the value we expect to see in the Model Number field. Should this be the case?

OOTB discovery will map model name and sometimes model number depending on the CI class and patterns.

Thanks for the reply, Patrick. If we need the model number for HAM normalization, what do you recommend we do?

Depending on your discovery sources, you can have them bring in the data, or use the asset process to add as you buy.

Hey Patrick, you might find this bit of information interesting. We've been working on with HI to see if we can find a solution to Discovery populating the wrong values on the Hardware Model record. See the attached screenshot.
