Hi All
We are implementing the HAM & SAM Modules. Currently our limited Asset Management for End User uses InTune integration with Infrastructure using ServiceNow Discovery.
My question is, will the HAM & SAM Functionalities work fully with just InTune or is there a dependency on ServiceNow Discovery in order to get all the benefits ?

Hi @ian_starr ,
Definitely ServiceNow Discovery gives alot benefits for HAM and SAM implementations but you are doing for limited asset, you need to make sure you will get the Hardware Asset details from Intune or any other third party, same way also required the Software third party tool as well which help to populates the software.

HAM and SAM features can work even if you use only Intune. But if you are not using discovery and only using Intune, your asset coverage will be limited. i.e., Any devices and software installations that are not captured by intune can't be managed as part of HAM and SAM in an automated manner. This is important especially for management of hardware & software assets present on servers since ServiceNow discovery is required for automatically populating the server inventory data. Additionally ServiceNow discovery is important for automatically populating the CMDB with data for many types of CI classes.
If your initial scope is only end user devices, it should be fine to start with only Intune. But you may have to add discovery to your scope soon for wider asset coverage and more effective Asset & Configuration management.
