We seem to have a problem Discovering the device information due to it being an appliance. Should we A. Continue discover them as a Server, or B. Make them a child class with Model ID specifically being Appliance.

Hi @RaymondAlex

When you say "appliance", what type of appliance are you referring to?
Based on the nature, functionality, and usage of the appliance, we can determine whether it should be classified as a server, network device, or some other CI class or attribute in the CMDB.

It is across the board there are Storage Applicances, Network appliances, Server appliances for which applications are run off of. They are used in the Change Control Process in terms of upgrades, patching adding or decomisioning, and they are using VM resources as well has hardware , so I am trying to figure a way to account for them and determine if the only way to do this is force our company to open up permisisons to allow them to be scanned in or come up with some hybrid that allows file import?
