Testing Identification rules before implementing in Project.

The Computer class is having around 300 duplicate CIs and 12 tasks. Most of the CIs are having the same name, but different Serial Number. The duplicates on computer class, 278/300 have unique Serial Numbers.

Question 1

  • Around 250 duplicate CIs have same name but different Serial Number
  • Even though the rule `Hardware - Serial Number` is present before (having low priority) than comparing the Name, duplicates are being created based on Name
    • Wrt Serial Numbers they shouldn't be.
  • Any idea why ?, why is Serial Number Rule with low priority is getting skipped,
    • Checked this through Identification Simulation, It is showing matched for the Serial Number rule but still the duplicates CIs are present

Question 2
I have updated the Identification Rule, i.e. Based on `Serial Number` on Computer class.

  • I have added new records, - they are following the Identification rules correctly and duplicates are getting created based on the rules correctly, IT IS WORKING CORRECTLY FOR NEW RECORDS, which i inserted for testing (Load data - then ran the Correctness Job)
  • The same rule apparently doesn't work with the duplicates which are present before the new Identification rule
    • They are getting evaluated, but based on the new rule they shouldn't be present.
    • Why are they present 😶 ?

  • Tasks which were already present Do Not Change
    • They still contain the same duplicate list, even though they are not duplicate wrt new identifiers
