I'm not very versed in the whole CMDB or CSDM universe.
Currently my team is very small and we are responsible for all aspects of supporting and maintaining our ITSM environments.
About 2 years ago, we started down the CMDB path and have only gotten to the early stage of crawling....
We do not have discovery installed and are only tracking about a dozen device types.
(Servers, Computers, Routers, Switches, etc.)
Our main sources of data come from three places, 2 email feeds for Network and VM Devices plus an integration with SCCM. So everything else is basically a "Manual" process.
Given the inherent problems, I'm trying to wrap my hands around how SN is tracking changes to a CI.
For instance:
On the Server CI, I have a device that in history for that device, specific fields are constantly being shown as update.
E.G. Discovery Source.
How can I control what is being tracked/shown in the History table for any device?
Currently, only the Collection dictionary definition show Audit as true. This seems to control what options are available when you Right click a CI and go to the History menu item. All other fields in the cmdb_ci_server tables have Audit as false.
I've attempted to add an entry in the CI>>Exclusion List table for Discovery Source and that doesn't seem to be working.
Ive looked at the Document -
Modify tracking changes in configuration files
But again, we aren't using discovery.
Any suggestion on how I can exclude specific fields?
