Non-discoverable vendor servers

Don Hall

Hello all,

We currently have servers that run a vendor OS with an internal team managing the hardware it runs on. We don't have the ability to discover the servers so we're manually creating them. Is this best practice? I appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Don Hall

If those servers are non-discoverable and if you have a solid business reason to manage them in the CMDB, then manually creating them is justified. But make sure that an owner is identified for each of these servers. They should be responsible for performing any attribute updates to these servers and for marking decommissioned servers as 'Retired'. Data certification tasks should also be scheduled for periodic manual validation of key attributes by the people managing these servers.

Hi @Don Hall ,

However, not able to discover the Servers We can update through excel so that transform map can follow IRE rule instead of manually creation.
