OOTB duplicate ServiceNow CMDB class names/labels

Out-of-the-box, our ServiceNow contains multiple classes having the same label.

e.g. "Cloud Resource" is both the label for "cmdb_ci_cmp_resource" and "cmdb_ci_cloud_resource".

(There are also other classes with the same duplicate labels.)

This makes it impossible for users to know which class to pick wen using drop down list.

Can somebody in ServiceNow please take responsibility of cleaning up this mess?

I say, support was quick to give a good answer on this one:

"According to our records, this was fixed in 2017 in the Jakarta version, by PRB819768. My Vancouver patch 5 instance has the same duplicates as you see though, so clearly wasn't.
That was meant to have sorted out these 3 pairs, but from looking at the code changes, only actually fixed the Storage ones.
Storage Pool -cmdb_ci_kvm_storage_pool / cmdb_ci_storage_pool
Storage Volume -cmdb_ci_storage_volume / cmdb_ci_kvm_storage_volume
Cloud Resource -cmdb_ci_cmp_resource / cmdb_ci_cloud_resource
I will open a new problem for cmdb_ci_cmp_resource / cmdb_ci_cloud_resource , which I have just confirmed in our latest source code is still duplicate."

Yes, I agree that a support ticket would be the correct place for something like this, and I have also created one.
But I doubt I am the first person to report on this, even though I can not find any KB or similar regarding this.

My experience is that these kind of things need some extra "publicity" to be taken care of, and posting it here will hopefully make more people chime in regarding this, and then hopefully getting some attention from the ServiceNow employees active on this forum 🙂

Agree, it is very confusing. As this is the way platform has been designed , so better log a case to HI support.
