Recommendations for creating Orphan rules

Hello!

So 2 things:

1) I ran the Fix script listed here: https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0829101

and found that it seems to be the case that 56.58% of our CIs in our CMDB have invalid references (including those with invalid parent and invalid child references). I think our CMDB health dashboard says that we have "0" orphans because there aren't any orphan rules set up yet.

2) How should I properly set up orphan rules, based on best practice, so that we can reflect the accurate number of orphans found via this script in the CMDB health dashboard?

Hi,

You can use the general guidance in the link you already referenced, as well as: https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0780988  for leading practices related to identifying those orphan CIs, then use that same logic to build orphan rules which is then used in the calculation on the CMDB Health Dashboard.
