Reconciliation rules error in CMDB Workspace

When attempting up update attributes in the CMDB Workspace, users are seeing the following message:

Some attributes aren't updated due to the application of class reconciliation rules

 

But if these same users got into the platform UI and update the same attributes they are able to do so successfully.

 

Any ideas why the CMWB Workspace would give this error?

Probably the update from the CMDB workspace uses the IRE engine in the backend, but the platform UI doesn't use the IRE.

As pointed out by @VivekSattanatha , the CI form in CMDB Workspace honors IRE rules whereas the CI forms in UI16 do not.  Updating the UI16 forms to include IRE support is unlikely.
