Rejected CI's meaning

I noticed something In the CMDB Workspace dashboard. Under the management tab there is a space for "Rejected CI's". Can some one explains what generates these rejected CI's or break down what it means in simple terms? I cant seem to find any documentation on these.

It indicates the total number of records from the cmdb_ci table, with attestation_status=rejected.

This is mentioned in the following URL:

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/store-release-notes/page/release-notes/store/platform-capabilitie...

i.e. It indicates CIs which are rejected as part of attestation tasks by various users to whom tasks are assigned. The following URL has details on CI attestation:

My question, when someone rejects a CI during the attestation process they need to provide a reason. Is this stored somewhere on the CI so it can be reviewed on this dashboard?

There is a 'Close notes' field on the attestation task. It is not mandatory OOB. A good solution would be to make this field mandatory in order to close the task after rejecting. People who work on these tasks must be trained or informed to fill in this field with a proper reason.

That does not help if you are looking at the list of rejected CI's though as that is just on the task. There appears to be no way of seeing this on the list of rejected CI's. I have also created a HI Ticket to ask this same question, still waiting on a response there.
